Book Review- The Smartypants Series by Anushka Ravishankar
By Anushka Ravishankar
Illustrated by Pia Alize Hazarika
This series of non-fiction books manages to tackle some pretty heavy concepts in a way that’s fun, engaging, and totally irresistible for little readers. Writing science for kids can be a tricky business—how do you take all these big, brain-busting ideas and make them click for a child? Well, Anushka Ravishankar has absolutely nailed it in the Smartypants series.
So, who exactly is Smartypants? Oh, just the coolest cat in town! He’s cheeky, confident, and always ready with a quick quip. His witty, sometimes even existential questions will not only have you rolling on the floor laughing (yes, actual ROFL moments) but also help you wrap your head around the concept at hand. It’s education with a side of giggles.
Each book eases you into the subject with a slow build, so you get the gist early on, but there’s a treasure trove of info that keeps even older readers hooked. Smartypants isn’t just for the little ones—it’s for anyone who loves to learn while having a blast.
We like the entire series, but some of our absolute favourite books from this series are Photosynthesis for Smartypants and Set theory for Smartypants.
Perfect for kids aged 4+.
