Nous sommes tous Charlie

The numerous repercussions of the terrorist shooting in France last week, setting out a lot of positive response from the general world population, but also quite a few “Je ne suis pas Charlie” (I am not Charlie) responses.

I want to say two things here. Continue reading “Nous sommes tous Charlie” »

Left To Chance by C.D. Taylor

2 Stars (2 / 5)

Full of grammatical errors and typos, the second book in the Chances Are series becomes difficult to read; couple that with infantile grownups and weak plotline and the result is poor at best.

Eliza is having a pity-party at her best friend’s wedding and her sworn enemy takes pity on her drunken state and flies her to Vegas to marry her. Gabe, the aforementioned quintessential wealthy playboy, gets caught up in a media and family frenzy and Eliza’s situation becomes dire, so they decide to try and fool everyone and stay married for a while.

Loving You Is Easy by Wendy S. Marcus

1.5 Stars (1.5 / 5)

This one is going to be a “the good, the bad and the ugly” kind of review, so don’t expect me to get a good prose or try to find some good meaningful advice in this review; there’s none.

The Plot:

Perfect politician daughter Brooke Ellstein is a respectable teacher involved in a pen-pal program to support the troops; so she begins writing to Shane Develen. They become good friends with underlying sexual tension, but Shane is upfront and tells her he doesn’t want a relationship. When Shane comes home on leave, they meet and Brooke gives him some compromising pictures of herself. Shane is injured and brought home and his fellow soldiers post the picture on Facebook. Brooke’s reputation falls into a dark pit and Shane shows up on her door to set things right and apologize.

The Job by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

4 Stars (4 / 5)

Ms. Evanovich and Mr. Goldberg hit the mark again on this new installment on the Fox and O’Hare series.

Nick Fox and Kate O’Hare get drawn into taking down the chocolate-lover brutal leader of a global drug-smuggling empire. Except no-one knows where he is or what he looks like; but Nick has a few aces up his sleeve. Nick and Kate chase their mark and recruit an off the charts team composed of a machete wielding Somali pirate, a self-absorbed actor, an Oscar winning special-effects artist, and Kate’s father Jack. Team assembled, they find themselves against a psychopathic bodyguard and a Portuguese enforcer who is crazier than crazy, and they might catch their biggest win yet, or maybe die trying.

The premise here is simple: is it possible to fix what you broke thoroughly in a set amount of time if it was perfect to begin with?

Cal wakes up buck naked with a naked woman while in Vegas; the mayor problem is, the naked woman is not his beloved wife.
